A Medicare Supplement policy is an insurance policy that helps fill "gaps" in Original Medicare coverage, and is sold by private insurance companies regulated by the Department of Insurance.   Original Medicare pays for much, but not all of the cost for covered health care services and supplies.  Medigap or Medicare Supplement policies are sold to help cover the costs not covered by Original Medicare.  For example, copayment, coinsurance and deductibles.
