The mission of the Division of Insurance Fraud Investigation is to protect the Commonwealth through conducting fair and impartial criminal investigations, and other related activities for the purpose of deterring insurance fraud.Insurance fraud harms the public through the increase of premiums paid for insurance coverage. By statute, it is a criminal act to engage in insurance fraud and criminal penalties are an important element in the prevention and/or deterrence of such crimes.
