Life Settlement Broker / Provider Information

A life settlement broker is an individual or business entity who, for a fee, commission, or other valuable consideration, offers or advertises the availability of life settlements, introduces a viator to life settlement providers, or offers or attempts to negotiate life settlements between a viator and one or more life settlement providers.

A life settlement provider is an individual, partnership, corporation, or other person who enters into an agreement with a person owning a policy under the terms of which the life settlement provider pays compensation or anything of value less than the expected death benefit of the insurance policy or certificate. In return the life settlement provider receives the policy owner's assignment, transfer, sale, devise, or bequest of the death benefit or ownership of the policy.
