The Division of Agent Licensing oversees and facilitates every aspect of licensing for individuals and business entities engaged in insurance transactions. The division is responsible for ensuring that licensees comply with licensing laws and regulations, including the approval of continuing education and pre-licensing course of instruction.
Kentucky continues to modernize its licensing processes to ensure full reciprocity and uniformity that is consistent with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The goal of the division is to process resident and nonresident applications in the most efficient manner, by encouraging applicants to utilize electronic applications available through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), and the state's eServices automated system.
Many transactions can be completed through eServices. This includes printing a license, license renewals, etc. Click on eServices in the upper right corner of this page.
Examinations
The Division of Agent Licensing offers examinations to measure an applicant’s knowledge of insurance products, laws, and ethics. For the convenience of applicants, multiple examination sites are available throughout Kentucky. For more information on examinations, click here.
